Mac guides for the original Company of Heroes or Company of Heroes 2 do not establish how Company of Heroes 3 works. This profile is specifically for the Steam PC release of CoH3. It uses a Windows compatibility environment rather than a native Mac port.

A console copy is not the Steam edition required by these instructions. Check your library before installation. GameToMac prepares the game environment; game ownership, additional content, and Steam updates remain attached to your own account.

Online play with Windows players has been tested on supported builds. Keep that claim tied to the tested route: it is not evidence that every mod, platform combination, or future patch will work unchanged.

If you cannot join friends, compare the exact game versions and enabled content first. Confirm that everyone finished their downloads and that you are trying the same mode. If the lobby loads but the match fails, preserve the loading or connection message.

A short test match after an update is a practical way to check the setup before committing to a longer session. Finish the match and exit the game before closing the Steam session or switching to another GameToMac title.

Test orders, camera movement, and effects together

A clear menu does not tell you how a busy battlefield will feel. Begin with modest settings, move the camera across the map, select several squads, and play through combat. Pay attention to responsiveness when effects and units accumulate.

Reduce resolution or graphics quality if the experience becomes uncomfortable. Change one setting at a time and use a similar encounter when comparing. If a problem persists even in a quiet skirmish, that is useful diagnostic information.

Keep expectations specific to your Mac

M1 or later describes the supported chip family, not a single level of performance. Memory, chip variant, game settings, and the current build all matter. We do not publish a universal FPS number for CoH3 on this page.

When reporting a slowdown, include the mode, map, approximate match stage, resolution, and whether a restart changes the result. A repeatable description is more useful than the general statement that the game is slow.

The game is not detected after downloading

Open Steam’s Downloads page. Let unpacking and verification finish, and confirm that the installation used the suggested folder in GameToMac’s CoH3 Steam session.

The game no longer starts after an update

Finish the update, try launching again, then use Steam’s Verify integrity of game files if needed. Preserve the error and report the game build through GameToMac Help; a game update may need a compatibility update.

Single-player works but multiplayer does not

Keep the working installation while checking game versions, selected mode, and the exact connection error. Report the difference explicitly. Reinstalling everything can erase useful evidence without resolving a service or version mismatch.
