Choose the global Steam edition
This guide covers AION 2’s global Steam PC edition. The original AION and other regional AION 2 clients are separate and are not covered by this setup.
AION 2 is free to play on Steam. Optional in-game purchases remain separate, as does GameToMac membership. Use your own Steam and NC accounts and follow the game’s account-linking prompts.
AION 2: Mac requirements
- Mac
- Apple Silicon (M1 or later), macOS 26 or later, and Rosetta. Intel Macs are not supported by GameToMac.
- Edition
- The global Steam PC edition of AION 2.
- Accounts
- Your own Steam and NC accounts. Complete any account verification requested by NC.
- Storage
- Allow at least 120 GB free for the game and setup. Steam lists 100 GB for the game itself; leave room for updates. An SSD is recommended.
- Connection
- Internet access for installation, account sign-in, and online play. Server availability and maintenance are managed by NC.

How to play AION 2 on Mac
Choose AION 2
Open GameToMac, select AION 2, and choose Get started. Follow the setup prompts and let preparation finish.
Sign in to Steam
Use your account in the Steam window opened by GameToMac. Complete Steam Guard if prompted.
Install the global edition
Install AION 2 in the suggested Steam library. Keep Steam open until downloading, unpacking, and verification finish.
Sign in with NC
Choose Play now in GameToMac and complete the NC sign-in or account-linking prompts. Check that you are using the account you intend to keep.
Begin your adventure
Choose an available server and create or select your character. Start with modest graphics settings, check controls and audio, and adjust after entering the world. Launch future sessions from GameToMac.
Use the Steam window GameToMac opens for AION 2. Steam for macOS and other regional game launchers are separate from this installation.
Before you take flight
Keep the right accounts together
Use the Steam and NC accounts you intend to play with before confirming linking prompts. If verification or sign-in is rejected, save the exact message and follow NC’s account-support instructions.
Tune settings in the world
Busy towns and large encounters can be more demanding than character creation. Start with modest graphics settings and a lower resolution, then adjust one option at a time. Performance depends on your Mac, settings, and the scene.
After a game update
Let Steam finish downloading and verifying updates before launching. If GameToMac says a compatibility update is required, update GameToMac before trying again. Keep your installation in place while reporting the message through Help.
Server and connection issues
Check server availability and scheduled maintenance if you can sign in but cannot enter the world. Include the server, exact message, Mac model, and macOS version when asking for help.
