CAN YOU PLAY IT ON MAC?

GameToMac supports both the Steam and Battle.net PC versions of Diablo IV on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26.5 or later. You need access to the game through your chosen store, a Battle.net account, and an internet connection. The game runs locally through a compatibility environment prepared by GameToMac.

01 / THE RIGHT VERSION

Start with the license you actually own

Choose the store where you own Diablo IV. GameToMac supports Steam and Battle.net, so a Battle.net owner can use that copy directly without buying the game again on Steam. Open Diablo IV in the GameToMac library and choose Steam or Battle.net under Play using.

The two PC licenses are separate: a Steam purchase does not include the Battle.net PC version, and a Battle.net purchase does not include the Steam version. Console ownership alone does not provide either PC license. Use the account that owns the game and any expansions you want to play. Steam players also need a Battle.net account and should check it carefully before confirming account linking.

02 / BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

Diablo IV: Mac requirements

Mac
Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported by GameToMac.
System
macOS 26.5 or later.
Accounts
Access to Diablo IV on Steam or Battle.net, plus a Battle.net account. A Steam account is needed only for the Steam route.
Storage
The Steam listing specifies 90 GB and an SSD. Check the space requested by your chosen launcher before installing. Actual installed size depends on selected assets and updates; leave additional space.
Connection
An internet connection is required to play, including when adventuring alone.

GameToMac requirements describe this compatibility setup. Publisher specifications and edition details are linked in the sources below.

03 / INSTALL AND PLAY

How to play Diablo IV on Mac

  1. Check your macOS version

Open About This Mac from the Apple menu. Confirm Apple Silicon and macOS 26.5 or later before downloading game files.

  2. Prepare Diablo IV in GameToMac

Select Diablo IV in the library. Under Play using, choose Steam or Battle.net to match your PC license, then start setup. Review the component license and let GameToMac prepare your chosen launcher.

  3. If you chose Steam: sign in and install

Use the Steam window opened by GameToMac. Sign in to the account that owns Diablo IV, return to confirm you’re signed in, then choose Install with Steam. Keep the suggested library folder.

  4. If you chose Battle.net: sign in and install

Open Battle.net from GameToMac and sign in to the account with access to Diablo IV. Return to GameToMac and choose I’m signed in when prompted. In Battle.net, select Diablo IV, choose Install, and keep the suggested installation folder.

  5. Choose whether to install high-resolution assets

High-resolution assets are optional in both launchers. Leave them out if storage is tight; you can add them later. This choice affects installed texture assets and does not prevent you from selecting a screen resolution.

  6. Launch through your chosen store

For Steam, choose Play now in GameToMac after installation, then complete any Battle.net sign-in or account-linking prompts. For Battle.net, choose Open Battle.net or Show Battle.net in GameToMac, select Diablo IV, finish any pending update, and click Play in the Battle.net window.

Follow the installation step for the launcher you selected; you do not need to install both. GameToMac remembers your launcher choice. Steam and Battle.net installations are separate, so keep the suggested folder for each.

04 / PERFORMANCE

Set up for actual combat

Start with a manageable graphics load

Use modest settings and a lower resolution for the first session. Judge responsiveness while moving through a populated area and fighting enemies, not just while standing on the character screen. Raise settings gradually once you have a stable baseline.

GameToMac’s macOS requirement is a compatibility requirement. It does not translate the Windows graphics-card requirements into an FPS guarantee for every M-series chip. Available memory, texture choices, resolution, and the current game build all affect the experience.

Keep storage available for updates

Steam and Battle.net can need working space while applying a large update. A Mac with barely enough room for the finished game may struggle to complete that process. Check the download or update status in your chosen launcher before assuming the game has stopped launching.

Diablo IV also depends on Blizzard’s online services. A server or account error is different from a local launch failure. Note whether you reach sign-in, character selection, or the game world before the problem appears.

05 / TROUBLESHOOTING

If Diablo IV will not start

GameToMac says macOS is too old

Diablo IV needs macOS 26.5 or later in this setup. Re-downloading the game will not change the OS requirement. Verify the version displayed in About This Mac before retrying preparation.

Steam asks you to buy the game

Confirm which store and account own your PC copy. If you bought Diablo IV on Battle.net, select Battle.net under Play using in GameToMac and sign in there. You do not need a Steam purchase to use the Battle.net route. If you bought it on Steam, use the Steam account that owns it.

Battle.net opens, but the game has not started

Choose Diablo IV inside the Battle.net window and click Play once installation and updates are finished. The Open Battle.net and Show Battle.net buttons in GameToMac bring you to the launcher; the final Play action happens there. If the launcher window stays blank, save and exit the game, close the Battle.net session in Game settings, and reopen it. Collect diagnostic logs if the problem continues.

It stopped working after an update

Let your chosen launcher finish downloading and applying the update, then retry. For Steam installations, use Verify integrity of game files if the problem persists. For Battle.net, check for an unfinished update or an account prompt in its window. When asking for help, include GameToMac diagnostics, your selected launcher, the game build, and whether the failure happens before or after Blizzard sign-in.

COMMON QUESTIONS
